Here we suggest an alternative walk for the return trip from the wonderful itinerary, described in the route 2A, which starting from Lido di Gozzano leads to Pella along the lakeside. This path gets away from the shore of Lake Orta, gaining height when we cross the quiet, picturesque hamlets of San Maurizio d'Opaglio.
We go back for 2.5 km to the village of Lagna. This time, instead of turning left we continue straight ahead, crossing the main road and taking Via Dolomiti, a dirt road that, with a climb of about 1 km (difference in level of 70 m), leads us to the Parish Church of San Maurizio d'Opaglio (16th century).
Along the climb, in the place called Bacchiore, we find on the left the Church of Our Lady Immaculate (17th century), subject to local heartfelt devotion after the discovery of a miraculous image of the Madonna.
After visiting the Parish Church we walk along the descent until the traffic light in the town center, and then we turn left to reach the place called Baritto. From here we continue straight ahead until we reach, after a short descent along a footpath, the Fountain of San Giulio.
After visiting the oratory we return on our steps and pass through the quiet hamlet of Opagliolo.
Staying on the left we walk along a paved road with little traffic that leads us through the picturesque villages of Alpiolo and Sazza, until we reach the main road.
Here we turn left and, being careful to stay on the side of the road, we walk for about 500 meters to reach the famous Church of Madonna di Luzzara.
From here a wide dirt road winding through the woods leads us to reconnect to the path previoulsy walked, which we will follow until Lido di Gozzano.
